chia seeds

Chia seeds are being mentioned everywhere with YouTubers and celebs mentioning them in their diets. Chia seeds seem to be sneaking on to tumblr, Pinterest and instagram too, But what are Chia seeds? are they worth taking? and how do you eat them?

Chia seeds are awesome little seeds that have 5 times more calcium than milk,
They have more iron than spinach, more potassium than bananas and more fiber than oatmeal.
  • Chia seeds are brilliant if you are dehydrated They absorb 10-15 times their weight in water so they are great at keeping you hydrated.
  • They make you feel fuller for longer, so less snacking!
  • With high amounts of potassium and  protein these seeds are great for giving you energy.
  •  Personally I can't take fish oils, I can't stand the smell or the aftertaste but not to worry because Chia seeds have Omega 3 in that means they are great for glowing skin and shiny hair as well as all the other great benefits of Omega 3!
  • They are a natural cleanser, They work as a natural regulator and they help clean out your system.

How to have Chia seeds.
Because these seeds are tasteless and so small they are easy to add to your diet, you can add them to smoothies and yogurts or sprinkle Chia seeds over salads or fruit. I personally like to mix them in to my oatmeal in the morning, then I have energy for the rest of the day.

Before you take them.
There are some cautions you need to take before deciding to add them to your diet. If you are allergic or sensitive to mustard seeds then you should NOT use chia seeds.

They are natural blood thinners so stay away from them if you are already on blood thinner.
and please don’t buy seeds processed from China. They are not FDA approved! I got mine from holland and barrett for £11.

have you tried Chia seeds before? are you going to try them. let me know in the comments below!

  1. I'd love to try Chia seeds - I've never seen them in a local shop.

  2. I used to make chia seed drinks as a kid! It was so easy: mix in with a glass of cold water, and add in some sugar (or other sweetener; you don't need a lot) and just drink it. Nowadays I like to mix it with water and some honey, and then have it cold. Yum.
